Event - Senior Adult Lunchtime Study with Dr. Lee Brewer

Senior Adult Lunchtime Study with Dr. Lee Brewer

Wed, Jan 13, 2021

B204

Join Dr. Lee A. Brewer, pastor of Caring Ministries and Senior Adult Ministries, as he continues his study on the history of the Christian faith as it developed from the early church to our current United Methodist understanding of the Christian faith and life. Some of the topics we will be looking at are:

  • Finding the faith: how heresies helped the church find its way
  • Catholic and Roman Catholic: how and why the Church grew in its understanding of theology, hierarchy, leadership and organization
  • Reformation: how and why the Reformation came about
  • Denominations: the struggle between being the Church and being churches
  • Methodism: how Methodists are children of all that has come before

The eight-week study will be offered on Wednesdays at noon beginning January 13. There will be an option to participate online or in person (space is limited). Both provide an opportunity for interaction with others in the study.

Even if you were not a part of the Fall study, this series stands alone and addresses topics and ideas that are still very much of our current life as a church and as individual Christians. In the same way our pasts as individuals affect our personal lives, so the history of the Church influences how and what we believe and practice in our individual churches today.

Wednesdays 12:00pm - 1:30pn | January 13, 2021 - March 3, 2021
