Shepherd Care Ministry
The Shepherd Care program began as a way for our church to maintain contact with senior adults who are no longer able to be as active as they once were. It is a program based on friendship.
Our Shepherd Care ministry takes a comprehensive approach to outreach. Our Shepherds are assigned a “lamb” to whom they will provide a monthly personal visit, a phone call and send an occasional greeting card. Our Shepherds will deliver a bi-monthly Upper Room devotional, a poinsettia plant at Christmas and a lily at Easter. Shepherds may also provide the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Rev. Cliff Ritter said, “I believe your ministry will directly impact the lambs you will receive, but you will also be a powerful expression of God’s love for the families you will meet. There are so many opportunities to bring God’s blessing to those in our care. You will be the face of the church in the lives of people who need God’s grace. You will be the hands and feet of Jesus to those need to know they are valued and appreciated. “
If you would like to learn more about becoming a Shepherd or if you know of a church member who might benefit from this ministry, please contact Kay Meador, Chairperson, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
