PLAY!

Upward is a uniquely designed sports experience that adapts and expands as players grow in their personal athletic journeys. The Upward program develops total athletes mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially. The program offers opportunity for character-building, player development, and the formation of deep relationships between teammates and coaches.

Our desire is for players to develop a love for basketball with a healthy competitive spirit, and discover skills necessary to succeed both on and off the court. Through the program, players learn the skills and concepts of the game, and are mentored in their discovery of Jesus. Our devotional curriculum includes several memory verses per season that teach us important Biblical virtues our athletes can apply in sport and in life.

VOLUNTEER!

Upward is a volunteer driven program that provides opportunities to learn about sport, healthy competition, and life lessons, all while having fun, but it cant happen without your help. Please volunteer to help make the Upward sports experience the best it can be! We provide all the materials and trainings that will help you be successful in your role this season!

  • The Woodlands Campus - Tuesday, Thursday or Friday

Our Upward Basketball League (pre-Kindergarten - 6th grade) offers opportunity for character-building, player development, and the formation of deep relationships between teammates and coaches. Our desire is for players to develop a love for basketball with a healthy competitive spirit, and discover skills necessary to succeed both on and off the court. The game format and rules are designed to teach the game at an age specific level that grows with each young athlete.

Teams are coed and split into developmentally appropriate age groupings. Teams are made as equally as possible based on ages, accommodations, and our league evaluations. We are very intentional about this process, we want every child to be appropriately challenged, feel as if they are in a safe place to learn and grow, and be given the opportunity to be as successful as possible.

Teams are coached by volunteer parents, supported and guided by Recreation Ministry staff. If you are interested in volunteering to coach your child's team, read our information on coaching

Pre-K division will be played in a 30/30 format where each Saturday the teams will have a 30-minute practice, followed by a 30-minute game. Kindergarten – 6th grade divisions will play hour-long games on Saturday modified based on age level up to the 5th/6th grade at which we play a traditional format.
